Zetos had made sure he went to sleep early that night knowing full well what waited his eyes in the morning. There was no way that the male was going into this even partially sleep deprived. It was not that he didn't trust his pack, but he had never seen them hunt in an organized fashion before, so he was wary as to what would happen, he already knew of the lack of hunters that his pack held which meant that most of the pack hunt formed strategies would fall between himself and Xerxes. When the early morning dew met his nose and trickled down to the grass padding of his den below he slowly removed himself from the den and made his way away from their site of residence.

The larger males tail hung limply behind him as he stopped for a moment mid-stride to lean forward, rump high in the air before tilting his head as he stretched out his still waking form. As his paws past the edge of the camp's territory he let out a low, rumbling howl as his head lifted towards the heaven. Even the first signs of day itself had not fallen, there was no sun, the air was still cool, and the smell was still fresh and clean to the wolves nose. As the recognition of time came to him he realized the integral part this would play in their day. The hunted would still be tired, sluggish and slow from the night, this would make their catch somewhat easier, at least, normally it did, he had never hunted with this pack before so he let his mind leave room for errors and added time.

After his wake-up call had finished itself the black one returned his sight to what was in front of him, he was headed northwest towards the lake. His tail stood tall and proud behind him as he set a pace at a deliberately quick walk, he wanted to be there before the dawn broke and his wolves had better be there as well. One look was cast back over his shoulder for only a moment to see if they were following, however he had already put a fair distance between himself and the pack camp and he could not see through the trees who was where. However if they had listened to him earlier the day before, and the days before that they would know they would meet him at Sunset lake upon his call. Seeing where he was now, Zetos decided it would be best to keep his pace high as he could not see his wolves and did not want to dilly dally waiting back only to find others had gotten there before him.

When he arrived at the spot he was alone, which was good, it gave him time to scout out the area and capture a few scents that were needed in order to start the hunt. A pack of deer had been there earlier, they smelled delicious to the male, it had been too long since he had had real game. The scent actually did not carry far and with slow movement he was quick to notice the herd that had rested itself down for the night in a small forested area just a little ways off of the lake. The wolf took care not to attract their attention though, sinking down low as he made his way back to the gathering point, it was a simple flank job, there were young with them which would mean at least two easy kills, and some elders were mixed in, it also appeared one of the full grown adults had already been a victim of an attack and would most likely be slower than the rest, as he reached the spot again he spoke softly. "It's going to be a good morning."

Pravin shook awake, his head shooting up, his eyes open with fear. He looked around; it was still dark out, the dew just barely starting to cover everything. No one was awake. Pravin took a deep breath and slowly lowered his head back onto his paws. The red wolf hadn't been able to sleep very well, lately. He suspects it's because he hadn't slept much out on his own, and his habits have always been hard to break. Nightmares haunted his dreams, and he was too restless to stay lying down. So, he got up from the soft dirt beside the center rock, and stretched. A long yawn escaped from his muzzle, and when it was done, he started towards the meadows, figuring that he should do some exploring. He should learn the newest borders of the land, since he left.

He had arrived at the meadows, and he sat down. It'd been so long since he'd been here last. When he was here last, his late alpha had told him he would be the new leader of the Roztok pack. It was here that they said their last goodbyes, and had Pravin known it would be their last encounter, he might have actually said goodbye, rather than "Until next time." He sat there, reminiscing about the past, and he softly said "Blitzen, I know I may never see you again. But you have given this land everything. And you have taken us all in, and I thank you. I suppose I may have to say goodbye soon, but no, not now. I will when my own time comes to join you." He nodded, perhaps not saying all he could have, but he knew he said enough, and he hoped that his old friend had heard.

Pravin had just sat down when he heard a howl vibrate through the air. It was Zetos' wake up call, the one that the alpha had spoken about in days previous. They would have an early morning hunt today, and Pravin was looking forward to it. He got up and turned around, beginning to head south to the Sunset Lake. That was their gathering position for today, and today had the perfect hunting conditions. And so, he walked casually to the lake, until Zetos came into sight. Along with Zetos, a little further in the distance, was a herd of deer. Perfect. Keeping quiet, he stood there and waited for his alpha at the gathering point. At least from here, they would not disturb the peace of the deer until the hunt.

His new alpha, (even newer than the previous Ramses,) walked up to the area, a spoke softly. Pravin nodded, agreeing to the quiet statement. "Hello Zetos." The red wolf whispered.

She was still getting used to the change in leadership of the pack, but then again, she hadn't really known Ramses very well anyways. It was the waking up early that was the biggest adjustment for her. This new alpha, Zetos, expected her to get up early and participate in a pack hunt? What was he thinking? She was the only official hunter, though Pravin had stepped in to help there as well. It would take more than herself and the alpha to take down any decent amount of prey. Then again, he'd opened up the hunt to the entire pack, so hopefully they'd have more wolves than just the two of them. With an annoyed groan, the white female lifted her head, yawning softly and stretching out on the floor of her den. This morning thing, she just didn't like it. But, she wasn't in charge, and he was, so she'd have to adjust one way or another.

It took a short while, but finally she exited her den, awake and alert enough to at least function, and hopefully she'd be to her full abilities when she reached the meeting point he'd laid out for them earlier. The dens were fairly close to the lake, so it didn't take her long to catch up to the two males that had already met there, and she entered slowly, sitting down without a word. No, she had nothing to say, she was just here to hunt and follow orders. She could care less about leading these types of things. No, leading was not something she'd likely ever be interested. Though, she was rather surprised that the Beta, Xerxses, had turned down the alpha position when Ramses had stepped down. She would have expected him to step up, but he had wanted to remain Beta instead. In fact, he wouldn't even be part of the hunt today, but was instead staying back at camp to care for his injured sister - and ironically the pack healer - Trilogy.

But, forcing her mind back to the current situation she was in, she looked over at Pravin with a small nod, remembering how well their last hunt together had gone. They'd worked well together, and she was optimistic for the hunt today. Sure, it'd be easier if there were more than three wolves involved, but she was sure that she, Pravin, and Zetos could take down a decent amount if they put their minds to it. But for now, she waited silently, tail curled lightly around her paws, alert and patient, listening for the alpha's orders.

As he looked at the two who had met him he went over their names mentally, taking a moment to look skywards. "Pravin, Victoria, I am pleased to see you here. We will wait only a short while for the others to come, however, we do not have all day." He didn't want to start the hunt with only three wolves, but it seemed that that might be the situation. Slowly he tilted his head looking back to the camp, as if expecting to see Xerxes or Tril, but it came to him that neither would be coming due to Trilogy's recent injuries and her older brothers rather protective and caring side that was now keeping her trapped within her den. He would need to visit his healer when there was time later on, and he mentally noted the thought before he turned his gaze back on the two that had come.

"Victoria, I know your position, and I am sorry that there are not others who may join in with you at the moment. Normally I would leave such a small hunt to the hunters, but we are a little short-jawed right now." A sigh left the males dark lips as he shifted, the sun was beginning to show it's first rays and that meant that their time-frame was dwindling, they needed to move fast if they wanted to get their catch. "Just a little west of us there is a herd of deer, young and old alike, and one full-grown that smells of death, probably caught in a hunt from some time before." The black one slowly turned his smokey eyes over both of them as he spoke seriously and deeply. "As easy as it would be to catch the young I would rather let them live so they may grow larger, the adult one is near death and therefore our main goal, he should feed our pack for a small while."

The alpha didn't say another word, instead he turned on the two and began to pad away. Meticulously he scanned the ground for anything that could alert the deer to their presence as he made his way closer, and in a hushed growl he made his sound. "Pravin, I need you to go a little north-west of where we'll be, you'll need to scare them our way. Victoria, you've hunted before, you should know about some of the weak points on the large beast, I'll need your help in taking him down." His ears flattened as his body pressed down deep, they were close to the herd and he didn't want to risk it any more. "The lake is just to our south, they won't be able to go through there, so Pravin if you come in on their northwest side it will force them east and to us, when we get him you'll need to help, watch out for his legs cause if that hits you, well... heh, I don't know if our healer will be able to help you much." They were set in place, now it all relied upon Pravin and what he did.

(Sorry this is a bit late, end of senior year stuff has got me all busied up!)
Pravin sat back as they waited for the rest of their hunting group, whoever would decide to come. A moment later, his previous hunting partner, Victoria had joined them. The red wolf was glad that the white female had come, they had worked well together, and with their black alpha, who knew what more they could get? Zetos spoke and they waited a bit more, until the sun began to shine. The moment clicked, and Pravin knew their hunt would start.

His new alpha began to explain their game plan, and Pravin listened intently. They would go for the already dying buck, and as Zetos walked away, and the red wolf followed, he learned that he would be playing the chaser today. He followed instructions and began to trace a path around the deer herd, across from the lake. He kept low, and made sure he walked quietly and carefully around random twigs and the occasional root that stuck out.

After a while, Pravin made it to his destination, and he lifted his head from the brush, just enough to make eye contact with his hunting party, but not enough to alarm the herd. He made sure that they were ready, and then bolted out from his hiding spot, aiming to the left of the dying deer. The herd panicked and ran in every direction, luckily the target deer began to head straight towards Zetos and Victoria.

The white female listened quietly and patiently to the leader's words and nodded slightly as he spoke directly to her. The plan was a simple one, and once Pravin took off to start the hunt, she kept a close eye on both males, as well as their target. It didn't take long for her to spot the reddish-hued male signaling that he was in position and ready. She glanced over at Zetos and then back to Pravin as the large male started off and sent the herd scattering and bolting in every direction. However, the deer they had targeted was heading straight for herself and Zetos, and everything seemed to be going as planned. However, she'd let Zetos make the first move, maybe use his larger size to weaken the animal and distract it so she could move in for a killing strike.

However, she was now on her feet, still carefully hidden, but ready to spring out and into the hunt whenever her alpha decided it was time to jump in. She knew what to do, but it was up to the higher ranking wolf to decide when it happened. The weaker deer they had targeted was being herded closer and closer by Pravin, and the white hunter looked over at Zetos patiently while keeping a close eye on their approaching target. It was all up to him now, and she would play her part in the final segment of their hunt when her time came.

To the black male it appeared that things were going to plan, he watched as his hunting party moved into position, then Pravin an integral part of the hunt began his move about the area to scare the injured one his way. Zetos took a few deep breath's as he watched the other wolf moving about the herd and getting ready. The greyish eyes locked upon the large one, inside he was tense as he waited to see how this would turn out, if he was shepherded properly the wolves would have a meal, if not, they would lose out on it and they would continue the hunt but with even less of a chance of catching prey throughout the day. Returning home without food was far from what he wanted to do. He turned for one last moment to peer over at Victoria making sure that she was ready for what was to come before allowing himself to turn slightly to the left.

"When he comes I will arc my way in, it will allow me a good spot for a pounce at his shoulders and neck, right where the sinew is, I will need you to keep on his right in a noticeable fashion so that he stays on his path. Once I've got my teeth wrapped around those two spots, you'll need to move in, he won't be down but he'll be staggering, go for his shoulders so we can shred those apart." The wolves words sounded malicious coming from him, however as the deer was now moving towards them he could see the size of it's body, he didn't want to get in the way of those legs as it would be an almost certain deathblow to whoever managed to get themselves there, the shoulders would be at a good height and provide a quick get away. With the plan now set out he pushed off with his back paws to start his wide arc looking back at the female for only a moment before he started to move in towards the deer, it would be in that last moment that Victoria's part would be most important, his lunge for the neck depended on her keeping the deer from going to the right, and his part was coming up. The hefty male could see the spot he wanted, it would weaken their prey and cause it to slow down, with a loud snarl he leaned to the right forcing his body into the arc as the paws ripped the grass and dirt from the earth with ever strong push, finally flinging himself up into the air, the single moment where if Victoria was doing what she needed to he would leave a large wound on this buck, however if she wasn't he might end up with a kick to his snout, or worse.

Pravin kept himself right behind the target deer, making sure not to get too close to the large hooves that could knock even him out. The rest of the herd moved out and away from the area, abandoning the old, dying buck. Pravin moved his concentration to his hunting party, and he saw his alpha leap into the air. The red wolf didn't know of their small part of the plan, but he assumed when he saw Victoria on the other side of the prey. She would catch onto the other shoulder, and together, her and the alpha would bring it down. It was the best way to do it, he knew. And it was his job to keep the deer on track, and not to get hurt. No doubt they would need him to help bring it back home.

And so he kept on the heels of the panicked deer, and paid close attention to it's hooves. He watched the alpha and the hunter throw themselves onto the prey, and he watched it stagger. He had debated jumping onto the deer himself, but he was placed as a chaser in this hunt. He would only help as soon as the deer stopped running.
