Combinations

Coven stayed awake for just a little while longer than Blitz, thinking about all that he'd gotten himself into today. It was quite a lot, but it was ending in a way he never could have expected. The wind was no longer biting at him, and though he was scraped up from the skirmish with Chaos and bruised from his little dip in the rapids, he was feeling better than he had in a long time...maybe even his life. Molly was still nuzzled into his chest, so he rolled to the side a bit, gently so as not to move her too much, and lay his head on the ground above the two other wolves'. Within a minute, he was sleeping deep and safe as he hadn't in so long.

Blitz woke early, as he always did, and slowly lifted his head as he yawned softly. Then he lookd down at the sleeping Pair of wolves beside him. They both looked so calm and peaceful, he couldn't bring himself to wake them quite yet. Instead he rose, stretching slowly and exiting the den to head straight to the storage den. It was close, and he reached it quickly, eating a hare and a small bird before carrying the rear of a large buck they had brought down earlier in the week to Coven's den for the sleeping wolves. They would both need the nourishment, and no doubt they were both hungry. He set them down near the sleeping pair, sitting down on the moist ground outside and soaking up the sun.

As usual, Inferno got up very soon after Blitz. He stretched and shook out his coat, paranoid about the possibility of still having moisture on him, and made his way out to the storage den, nodding to Blitz as he caught sight of the alpha. It was obvious that the hunt had not been successful, but today the weather was clear; Inferno hoped that the storm had been the only issue the hunters had encountered. Quickly finishing up a small meal, the wolf walked over to the alpha and sat next to him, relishing the warmth of the morning in comparison to the chill of last night. "When did you get in last night?" asked Inferno, tilting his head as he took in Blitz's tired face and glancing toward the dens of Khalessi and Fallon as if trying to see if they made it back as well.

Laek nodded as she saw Inferno inching towards the exit. "I think I just might. Like I said, it's been a long time." She rest her head on her paws and before she knew it she fell back into sleep, not knowing if Inferno left or not.

She didn't dream of much, but what she did dream of was something she hadn't seen in many moons. The old valley; the river rushing and the sun shining on a nice autumn day. She saw herself as a pup in the shadows, with her mother and brothers and sisters. The scene eventually faded into years later, the same area, the same river. But no wolves. It was dark and stormy and humans rowed their boats down the water. Humans with guns and wood and food. Laek let out a growl, but they seemed uninteresting, or maybe they just didn't hear it. She barked and ran at them but the last thing she saw was the barrel of a gun.

Laek shook awake and looked outside her small den. It had stopped raining, and it was early the next day. A small puddle had gathered at the entrance of her area. She rolled over onto her feet, testing out her ankle. It didn't hurt very much, so she ventured outside and the air was crisp. She stepped forward as her stomach growled, and she sniffed the air. She sensed the other wolves somewhere near, but she was mainly looking for the food source.

She brought herself to the other wolves and found Inferno and Blitz. She nodded in respect and then spoke, "Excuse me, but where is the storage den?"

Inferno rose to his feet as Laek approached, watching her leg curiously as she walked. He answered her question, pointing with his nose toward the storage den, but he stopped her before she could head off. "I know you are probably starving, but if Molly were awake she would tell you to at least take a quick break right for a bit...just to see if your leg starts swelling?" he trailed off in a question, looking over at Blitz for possible agreement. Though Laek's injuries didn't seem bad, Inferno figured it was best to be safe, though he was starting to see how Molly could have seen this caution as a bit eccentric.

As Inferno spoke, Fallon groaned and rolled over onto her side, trying to go back to sleep. She had sleep lightly the entire night, and even the soft voices of Inferno and Blitz and Blitz's dragging food around had been enough to wake her. Fighting to stay asleep wasn't working, so with a grouchy huff, the female got slowly to her feet and trudged out of the den. Once her bleary eyes caught sight of the strange wolf, her foul mood lifted immediately and was replaced by utter excitement. Another new wolf to meet! Grinning and suddenly feeling much lighter on her feet, Fallon bounded (a little stiffly at first) over to the trio.

"Hello, there!" she chortled, wagging her tail and sniffing at Laek. "I'm Fallon. Who are you?"

Laek looked in the direction that Inferno pointed to and almost turned before he stopped her. She thought for a moment and looked down at her paw. To her, it seemed just fine. Just another accidental injury, she knew it'd be fine. But she sat back anyways, releasing pressure off the paw to satisfy Inferno. It was good to know he was looking out for her health, even though she was new and not really part of the pack.

Before she could say anything, another wolf appeared in the scene. She seemed happy as she bounded over, and introduced herself quickly. Her name was Fallon.

"Hello! Name's Laek!" She said in as happy a tone. She then turned to Inferno, "Also I think the paw will be fine." She gave a small shrug, or as much of a shrug that wolves could do.

Blitz smiled as Inferno joined him, but he didn't look over. Instead he closed his eyes, shrugging slightly. "I'm not sure. It was raining very hard and I'm afraid I was more concerned with Molly than the time." He said softly, glancing back at Coven's den where the white wolf still slept. He was glad she was resting, but there was work to be done. She needed to tell Coven how to change Chaos's dressings, as well as at least look at Laek's paw. But for now he let her rest, knowing that they were lucky that she was alive, let alone slowly regaining her health.

Molly remained sleeping, even through soothe talking and bustle outside of the den. She nuzzled into Coven's fur, hiding her face and curling up as she clung to her dreams, dreading the fast approaching wakefulness that loomed ominously overhead. But it was still early, she didn't HAVE to get up yet, right?

Fallon smiled, still wagging her tail excitedly. Whatever Laek was telling Inferno - something about her paw? - didn't seem to concern Laek much, so Fallon didn't really worry about that now, either. What was on her mind was her own rumbling stomach. "Have you had breakfast yet, Laek? We can head over to the storage den and grab something to eat real quick before we've gotta get going with everything else," said the she-wolf, already beginning to move toward the storage den, crab-walking a bit so she could still talk to the other female and move at the same time.

Inside the den, Coven had been so deeply asleep that only one thing could have awoken him: food. Blitz's choice of breakfast was big enough to send a strong scent into the den, which in turn sent a few sharp pangs into Coven's stomach. Normally, the black wolf would not be waking up this early, but never had food been so close and tempting!

With a low groan, the male lifted his head stretched out a foreleg. He was much more sore than he'd expected to be. The battering yesterday by the water and Chaos apparently took more out of him than he had realized, and it was making him regret some of his decisions yesterday while also keeping him down for a lot longer than normal. Moving wouldn't be so bad, but getting to the point of moving was a bit rougher for him at the moment.

Laek looked back to the excited Fallon who then asked her about food. Laek shook her head as she spoke, "No, I haven't. I would love to grab something!" She could see that Fallon was already moving, so after glancing back at the others, she went and caught up to the other wolf in a sort of gallop.

As they neared the storage den, the scent carried into Laek's nose, making her hungrier than her stomach had led her to be. As the pair walked to the den, Laek glanced at Fallon. The other female looked very similar to Laek, except that Laek's fur was slightly coarser, and lighter than that of Fallon's.

As another moment passed, they arrived at the den. Laek was about to step forward before she realized she wasn't really part of the pack. She wasn't completely sure what she could take, and what she couldn't take. She looked at Fallon and inquired, "What can I take?"

Blitz had no intention of moving quite yet, so he remained sitting by his den, surveying the den area and observing the pack. They seemed happy and content, which made him smile, but at the same time, he remained worried for the sick and injured, hoping they would recover soon so that the pack would be at their full strength soon. Right now his worries were on Molly, but he knew the little female was strong, and with Coven's help, she would recover quickly. At least he hoped so.

Molly slept peacefully, even as Coven woke and stretched. Not even the aroma of the prey woke her. She was no longer shivering, and she cuddled up against Coven's side, trying to make up for the lack of warmth when Blitz had left. Her head was buried in his chest fur, resting gently on his paws as her body remained pressed and nuzzled gently into his. It was obvious that she was sleeping will, and that she was slowly regaining her strength, although she needed to eat as well.

The ever eager Fallon did not even notice Laek's hesitation. Still grinning, the she-wolf strode into the storage den and nosed around the kill. "Here," she announced triumphantly, digging out a fat hare from the pile. "You can have this one." She dragged the rabbit over to Laek and dropped it with a smile at the other female's feet, wagging her tail before turning back to the pile and quickly picking out her own breakfast.

Fallon lead Laek back outside and flopped down right in the middle of the den area between where Blitz and Inferno were sitting and the storage den. With her breakfast in her paws in front of her and with a mouthful of meat, the female nodded at Laek to sit down and eat as well. Fallon was so relishing the presence of another kind wolfess in the pack, one she could be friends with, that she hadn't even considered the possiblility that the new wolf actually wasn't a member yet and could end up leaving whenever she felt up to it.

Inferno, with a nod to Blitz, stepped away and went to join the two females. Blitz obviously was letting everyone take their time enjoying the morning, and he would know that Inferno would be ready whenever he was needed. For now, though, he was for once going to relax a bit and enjoy the morning, his favorite time of day. It suddenly got a bit difficult to take in the world in peace, because Fallon started gleefully flipping gnawed bones at him and Laek, chuckling and trying to incite some play.

Inside the warriors' den, Coven was having an even harder time getting up thanks to Molly. She was so obviously content, and it was such a relief to see after her hard time last night; it was almost guilt-inducing to consider moving and disturbing her.
The black wolf's stomach was starting to rumble, though, and he was aware that many of the other pack members were awake. His pride couldn't take being thought of as that lazy, even if it was still extremely early. Slowly and gingerly, Coven slid away from Molly, slipping his paws from under her head and standing up. Quickly shaking out his coat, as half of it was still quite damp, the wolf made his way outside, looking between Blitz and the food in surprise. He'd smelled the food, but the amount - and Blitz's immensely kind gesture - of food was a pleasant shock.

"'Morning, Blitz," greeted the wolf, trying to stifle a yawn. "Thanks..." he said, looking at the food similarly to how Laek had looked at the food in the storage den, as if he wasn't exactly allowed access to it. Blitz's turnabout in attitude toward him still had him a bit wary, especially now in a more 'real-life' setting with the pack all around. It was different enough right now to put the black wolf slightly on guard again.

Blitz watched the interaction between the three wolves and smiled. He was grateful that his pack was flourishing. And he couldn't ask for better members, either. He remained where he was, silently observing, displaying the fact that he wasn't quite as social as Fallon and preferred to keep to himself instead of interact directly in the middle of things. Not that he ignored or avoided his pack, no, that was something he'd never do. He just wasn't as outgoing as the huntress was. So he remained by his den, watching and smiling until Coven emerged and spoke. He shook his head, smiling slightly. "Don't worry about it. I'm grateful that you took care of Molly so well last night and even offered to help. The food was the least I could do." He said, nodding to the meal and laying down slowly. He had no intention of getting up any time soon, but he knew that eventually he would have to lead a patrol or join a hunting party. But for now, he let his worries disappear as the pack enjoyed themselves and relaxed in the morning air.

Molly clung to sleep, although when Coven slipped away, she slowly began to emerge from her dreams. Her eyes began to blink sleepily as he disappeared outside, leaving her inside his den alone. She lifted her head slowly, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness before glancing over at the entrance as her stomach rumbled. She could smell food, but she couldn't reach it. She shifted slightly, trying to get her legs underneath her body in order to stand. It was easier than she had anticipated, and she was standing on her feet only moments later, surprising herself with the fact that she felt stable and didn't wobble as she stepped towards the entrance. She smiled, taking a few more steps and finding herself steady and stronger than before. She then moved outside, coming to a stop half in and half out of the den, squinting and blinking at the brightness that greeted her. She looked healthier, and stronger, but she was hungry.

With a small, grateful smile, the black wolf dipped his head and confidently went up to the meat and tore out a large chunk. He dragged the meal over a few feet from the partial carcass and lay down so he could eat and watch the pack members at the same time. As he ravenously devoured the meal, tearing out bits of the flesh and pretty much swallowing it whole, Coven started gleaning information about the others. He had briefly met Inferno, but Laek and Fallon were completely new to him. The first question that popped into his head as he watched them was whether or not they were sisters, as they did look similar. Personality-wise, though, they seemed very different.

Coven was still laughing to himself at Fallon's pup-like game when Fallon herself quieted down and pricked her ears over at Molly, who was just making it out of the den. "Molly!" she exclaimed happily, wagging her tail and walking over to inspect the white wolf. As she passed Laek and Inferno, she couldn't help but give each one either a bop on the head with her paw or a nip on the ear. Inferno just rolled his eyes and lay down smiling, shaking his head at Laek in a way that silently expressed how crazy he though Fallon was.

"How are you feeling?" Fallon asked the white she-wolf once she was close enough to sniff at her friend's face in concern. Her utter focus on Laek, amusing herself, and then Molly had been enough for her to completely miss the presence of the new male, though she immediately turned and cast a frenzied glance of burning curiosity, questioning, and inner turmoil between Coven and Blitz. A new member in the pack that she hadn't talked to? It was killing her to stand still, but she loved Molly enough to care about listening to her answer before bolting off to meet the new member who was looking back at her quizzically. At the moment, she really did look a bit unhinged as she tried to balance so many passionate emotions.

Molly flinched slightly at the sudden exclaimation of her name. She looked over at Fallon, still a bit dazed and obviously overwhelmed. But she didn't have time to respond, for in a matter of seconds the female was right in front of her, inspecting her and firing a question at her. She stood there silently for a moment, trying to sort out what had just happened, and then looked up at Fallon. "I, uh, I'm alright I suppose. But I could use some..." She said, but the last few words faded away as she realized that Fallon was staring wide-eyed at Coven and Blitz in confusion. She smiled, making her way over to the kill by Coven and taking some meat before collapsing beside him and eating. Blitz would explain, she was sure of it.

Blitz's head turned to look at Molly as she emerged, and he couldn't help but laugh softly at Fallon's eagerness. But when she spotted Coven, he stood slowly, smiling at her. "This is Coven, our newest pack member. He had a little, well, disagreement with Chaos at the border and they were both pretty banged up. But since then he has proven to me that he will be a great asset to this pack. He took a position as a warrior, although now he had volunteered to help Molly with the healing until she is well enough to do so on her own." He said, nodding gratefully to Coven and then looking back at Fallon. "Oh, and Chaos is the Head Warrior now, and she has surprised me with her willingness to take up the responsibilites of the postion. Please treat her accordingly. I understand that she can be difficult, but she has gotten a bit better as of late." He explained, shaking his head slightly as he pictured the things that may happen in the future that involved Chaos. But he focused on Fallon and the pack once more, slowly laying down and resuming his resting.

Fallon's wicked, unabashed smirk that graced her face at the mention of Chaos having a "disagreement" with the new member dropped flat into a slack look of horror. What?! Immediately, the female opened her mouth again, but Blitz calm and wisely precautionary continuation of his message made her close it again. Fallon heartily disagreed with the statement that Chaos had been getting better, but she would never think of talking back to Blitz - she trusted his judgment far too much, though she never really understood it.

After standing silently pouting for a moment as she got used to the fact that Chaos was now in a position of /power/, Fallon sighed and refocused: new guy! And this guy beat up on her worst enemy. With a grin, the female sauntered over to where Molly and Coven lay and sat down. "Hello, Coven," she greeted him with an appraising tilt of her head. "I'm Fallon, and it is /so/ nice to meet you." Her grin was so wide that it almost looked like a sneer, which was possibly coming out because her mind was still not completely off the shocking news of Chaos' promotion.

Coven inclined his head a bit, looking up at Fallon with almost a blank look as he tried to figure her out. Giving up for the moment on most of what she was thinking, though picking up quite quickly on the fact that she, too, disliked Chaos, the black wolf sat up and smiled back with an understanding smirk that matched her own. "Nice to meet you, Fallon. I think we're going to be pretty good friends."

"I am certain," replied Fallon, laughing a bit as it became apparent that Coven knew what she was thinking. If he was friends with Molly, that was one nice tie, but him as a rival of Chaos was instant acceptance, as if Fallon needed much to like someone new anyway. The red female turned her head to grin happily, and triumphantly at Blitz, knowing that while he disapproved of contention in the pack, there was no way he couldn't help but forgive her for loving to hate Chaos. And at least everyone else got along.

Remembering suddenly that Molly had no clue what Blitz had been talking about in the end, Coven looked down at the wolfess and explained quickly as she ate, "Molly, we've all decided that you need help, whether you want it or not, and since everyone else here is either sick or extremely busy, I'm going to help out, ok? So," he continued, pausing before going on, "sometime soon today, you're going to have to let me know just what needs to be done and how to do it..." Because the sooner he got started with this job, the sooner Molly could rest, the sooner she could get better, and the sooner he'd be able to get out and moving in the job he actually would be good at and enjoy.

Blitz soon rested his head on his paws, ignoring the look that Fallon shot him, knowing that she hated Chaos. He disliked how much she hated the black female, but there was nothing to be said about it right now, so he ignored it. Instead he closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sun as it graced the clearing they were now in. It was a peaceful morning, and it would have to end soon, and then he would be on his way and running around the packlands as per the usual.

Molly's ears flicked backwards as she listened to Coven speak. Her eyes narrowed slightly, but she said nothing. She had no doubt that Inferno would be pleased with the news, and she couldn't bring herself to look over at him for his reaction. He had always been nagging at her to let others do everything for her, and now she had the new male doing th same. And Blitz! She took a deep breath, trying hard not to argue, and turned her head back to her meal, picking it up and dragging it into her den, where she laid down silently and finished her meal. She was embarassed, mostly because of the fact that she needed the help, but also because now everyone knew that she couldn't take care of herself. It was obvious that the reason she was so ill was that she was a horrible hunter, and now that everyone knew that, she couldn't bring herself to leave the den and face them all. So she ate inside alone, her back to the den entrance, her ears back as she tried to calm herself and figure out what to do. It was bad enough having Inferno treat her like a pup, but now she would have the whole pack doing it! She didn't think she could handle that. Not to mention that no one would respect her and treat her like an adult ever again...

Fallon and Coven chatted on for a few more minutes in about nonsense as they got to know each other. Fallon was curious to learn about the two black wolves' little fight, but she (and Coven) had sense enough not to bring it up in front of Blitz. Fallon because she respected Blitz, Coven because he still felt his position in the pack was at a precarious point. The she-wolf wasn't so terribly distraught about not learning the whole story about Coven's entrance to the pack just yet, as she was positive they would both be seeing each other again soon.

Until then, Fallon wanted to check up on one of the pack members she loved the most. She couldn't help it, but Molly was sick, and Fallon was always in everyone's business, especially if they were friends. After saying goodbye, unable to keep herself from winking as she trotted off, the wolfess made her way over to the healer's den while Coven lay back down and began chewing up the bones remaining from his meal; it was a bad habit of his.

"Hey, sweetie," said the red and black wolf softly as she ducked her head and entered a step into the den. "How are you feeling? Honestly...?" Fallon wasn't sure any of the males (perhaps excepting the ever-sensitive and observant alpha) had picked up on this, but there was something more than Molly's health that was wrong at the moment.

Fallon walked slowly up to Molly and lay down beside her, putting her head gently on the white wolf's shoulder as she listened. She stayed quiet for a few minutes after, just tenderly licking Molly's ears to try to soothe and calm her. If it had been Fallon upset, she knew she would have just wanted someone to listen and cry with her, so that's what she was going to do for Molly.

Finally, enough time passed that Fallon felt it was time to talk. Talking and understanding was needed just as much as crying in these situations to work through it. "Molly, not a single wolf here thinks you're a failure." She didn't know what Chaos thought, actually, but she decided Chaos' opinion didn't count anyway. Inferno is just a bit...impatient and independent. He doesn't intentionally treat you that way; you know he treats himself that way, too, right? It's just how he works, and he doesn't understand. As for Blitz and Coven - and I'm pretty sure Inferno, too, in his own way - they just care about you. They're guys," she exclaimed, almost with exasperation as she thought about all the ridiculous things males did and thought, "and they're friends - they're just hardwired to protect and care in the way they can...which is kind of a strange, overbearing way, but they do mean well." Fallon licked Molly again, trying to reassure her. "And don't stress about having gotten sick - it happens. Khalessi and Blitz and I just came home from a /failed/ hunt. I even whacked myself in the face with a tree branch! Things just happen; don't stress. Really." She placed a paw on her friend's shoulder and looked at her sincerely, wishing that Molly would understand what Fallon was trying to say. "You are so much more respected than you think, Molly," Fallon had actually been surprised when the white wolf admitted to feeling like a failure as a healer, "Chaos could be out dying slowly in the forest from infection or blood loss if it weren't for you, you know. I saw her neck - it's true. You are a huge part of the reason she's alive...thanks a lot!" she interjected jokingly, butting the other wolf's shoulder with her forehead. "Everyone relies on you and your knowledge so much that no one could ever think of you as a pup. They don't. They're just trying to help...failing, obviously, but trying."

Fallon twitched her ears in concern, but also understanding silence, as Molly rode out a few more waves of insecurity. It was obvious that Molly was thinking things through, so Fallon quieted herself down - a feat she could only accomplish for one so beloved to her as Molly - and just lay with her head still on the white wolf, listening to her relax a bit.

Fallon couldn't keep her laugh in a low voice as Molly mentioned the Coven and Chaos dilemma. "I was wondering that myself," laughed the wolfess, shaking her head as she pictured the hilariously nasty scene in her head. "See!" she piped up quickly, lifting her head back in excitement, still laughing along with Molly, "You are /utterly/ irreplaceable for some jobs. I really think you're going to have to cover that one, much as I hate to admit that it would probably be bad for Chaos to get hurt. Again. Hehe." She couldn't help but grin at Molly with an impishly gleeful gleam in her eye. She wasn't allowed to fight Chaos, and neither was Coven anymore, but she would never forget that someone had tried and humbled Chaos to the point of needing medical help (it also gave her a promotion, but the first part was good enough to make Fallon happy).

"You want to stay in here, and I'll get Coven? It's so nice," said Fallon, stretching out and looking around the cozy den, "why not just take advantage of this little break and enjoy?" She smiled, hoping Molly would catch some of her holiday-spirit.

Molly smiled as Fallon spoke of Chaos and Coven. It was entertaining and it would be interesting to see Coven not loose his temper with the little black female. But for now she decided to worry about that problem later. As Fallon spoke of getting Coven, Molly sighed softly, nodding a bit before stretching out to wait. This she wasn't looking forward to, but she wanted to get it over with. She took a deep breath, watching the entrance for the entrance of either Fallon or Coven. As of now, there was no point in leaving the den, since she had all the supplies she needed inside, and she needed to change Coven's dressings first anyways. She would do that once he entered.

Blitz was soon on his feet, and when Fallon appeared from Molly's den, he approached her. "We need to get out on a hunt. Inferno could join us as well since Khalessi seems to be absent. We need to stock up the storage den before the first snow." He said, obviously concerned about the state of their storage and the lack of success on their hunts. He glanced over at Inferno, who he knew agreed fully with his words. They needed to prepare for the winter, and so far, they were failling in that aspect. The patrol could wait, they all needed to hunt.

Fallon nodded to Blitz and grinned at Inferno, who had shot up to his feet when Blitz announced the need for a hunt and that Inferno would be going. The long-legged male had never felt happier, even though his face didn't express that there was anything other than focus bubbling under his coppery fur.
"I'm ready to go now," said Fallon, stopping in front of Blitz with Inferno now by her side. "Coven," she said, turning to the male as he joined the group to get his own instructions. Fortunately, Fallon had them. "Molly needs you now to give you instructions on how to take care of the injured wolves. Keep an eye on Laek, will you?" The black wolf headed off to Molly's den, nodding to Laek, knowing that he'd most likely be checking up on her soon.

Walking into the den, the black wolf greeted the white one and looked her over, trying to assess just how she was doing today. It was obvious - she was much better in a way, but there was a long way to go.

Blitz grinned at Inferno's eagerness, and nodded to Coven as he turned to head into the trees and begin the hunt. He headed for the meadows, hoping that the deer would be grazing and would be out in the open to asses and make a successful kill. There were only three wolves, so he hoped that Inferno and Fallon could handle it. His pace was fast, and he knew Inferno could keep up, but he kept one ear trained backwards to make sure that Fallon was keeping pace alright. He didn't want her falling behind and getting separated.

Molly lifted her head as Coven entered. Her ears pinned back in annoyance as she watched him examine her, obviously assessing her condition silently. She stood up when he came all the way in, almost as if to say I'm fine, stop worrying about me and focus. She took a deep breath, and then picked up some herbs. "Alright, these herbs are what I call dressing herbs. They are the only ones I use to seal up a wound to help it heal. Curious and determined to track down the creature, Fallon took off rapidly after the trail, intending to meet up with the two males again. It was obvious that Blitz was heading to the meadow.

The wolfess's swift legs brought her speedily nearer to the boarders of the pack lands. In the healer's den, Coven ignored Molly's subtle sassiness and moved up nearer to her so he could touch the herbs with his nose and get a good look at them.
