She'd woken up early that morning, which was quite unusual for her, but it was necessary in order to avoid Xerxses. He was rather over-protective of her, and though it made her feel safe, sometimes it was too much to handle. Usually he'd tell her to stay at the camp, which if she were to be completely honest, was terribly boring. So, in order to avoid such a situation, she woke up early to get away before he even noticed her leave. It was nearing the middle of the day when her path turned towards the Apple Tree Woods, and though it wasn't too far from where she was at the time, because of the large territory size, it was a decent ways away from camp.

Spring was in full swing as she entered the woods, the flowers on the trees around her slowly beginning to shed their petals as the apples began to carefully grow at the ends of every branch. The small white and gray female wasted no time in making her way through the trees, wandering aimlessly for the time being, with no set or clear direction or destination for her paws. She was in no rush, there was no where she had to be, so why not just enjoy some time alone in the woods? It was beautiful this time of year, and as she moved, small petals fell and landed on her coat, soon speckling about it. A small shake of her little form was all that was needed to rid her fur of them, though minutes later they were replaced with new ones anyways.

Before long she had made her way deep into the woods, sunlight shining in spots here and there through the trees and cascading in strange and random patterns across the grass before her. It was about mid-day now, and she came to a slow stop, her ears perked and her tail hanging in a relaxed fashion behind her, simply enjoying the peace and quiet as she looked for a suitable place to rest for a short time. It didn't take her long to settle herself beneath an apple tree that was slightly shorter than the rest, full and thick with slowly shedding petals that surrounded her as she curled up in a ball beneath it. The shade provided her with a cool spot to lay, and the thickness of the tree blocked the breeze, so she was rather comfortable, and it didn't take her long to doze off and slip into a dream.

Finally the wolf had been able to explore a bit, he knew the eyes of the higher ups were still on him, after all being a new face in the pack would be something they should keep an eye on him for. However he needed to know the lay of the land and so he would, it was early morning when he left, sometime before most of the wolves had seemed to have stirred, that was something that had been trained into him and most likely would never be trained out of him. For the time being though it worked as he needed it to and he made his way south-east. The forest itself seemed to open to a different type of forest though, something he had not seen in his days and left him standing in awe. The blossoms of pink and white that grew in the trees that stood strangely rounded had caught his eye and the black male found himself lost for a moment in the view. Slowly the gray-blue eyes turned over the green foliage for a short while longer.

Slowly he forced himself towards the beautiful place, the leaves were a bright and vibrant green. Many held tight to their branches but some were falling. The snow mould was visible on the ground, the leaves from the fall before eaten up by the slightly white and brown fuzz that slowly ate away at the bio-degradable mess. Slowly he moved about the patches as he pushed his way further in, the sun was on his back at this point, though the morning was still cool and the spots were the grass poked through was covered with morning dew which was relaxing to the paws. The feeling was much better than it had been in the harsh cold, and the knots and tangles of his coat were for once not bothering him with the weather. He could see that others had been travelling through the grounds as well, the wet ground held the prints well and now that he was no longer in the swamp he could finally smell again.

The smell of a wolf caught his nose, cautiously he walked towards the area where it came from. From the scent it seemed to be a female and for some reason it was familiar, the only reason he could think of it was the female he had met before he was accepted. Trilogy, that was her name, however the adrenaline that had run through him during that time with the beast before had caused him to forget the females reaction to his presence. He made his way towards the scent, letting the grass and mouldy leaves crunch beneath his paws as his ears perked forwards, tail remaining low behind him. He was still new to this place and would be careful of his approach lest he were to offend the beta's sibling and find himself in trouble he did not wish to be in. The white to ash warrior wolf was laying in the shade of a tree a small distance off, and casually he began to make his way around her.

She hadn't been dozing for long when the dark male approached, and since she'd only been in a light sleep, it didn't take much more than his scent and the sound of his paws hitting the ground to make her stir. Slowly her honey-colored eyes opened, blinking sleepily before her jaws parted in a soft, high-pitched yawn and her ears perked slightly at the sound of his steps. He was moving around her now, and as her eyes opened wider, they were greeted with the sight of a large, dark wolf at the same time as her nose was filled with the masculine scent. At the realization that the wolf so near to her was a male she barely knew - having only met him at the swamp when she'd been attacked by an alligator - her entire body tensed, her ears flattened to the sides, and her tail tucked between her legs, almost as if in submission.

Her head lowered as well, eyes on the male's form, but avoiding his face and eyes in order to prevent him seeing the eye contact as a sort of challenge. Before she'd found Roztok and her brother, Xerxses, she'd been used to being held captive in an abusive pack of all males, who'd used her to produce pups, which they killed not long after their birth. She'd been terrified of the male gender ever since, and the only exception was her brother. But the wolf in front of her was not her brother, but a new male in the pack, one she knew nothing about but his name. She said nothing, but backed up slightly, keeping herself low to the ground as she watched the male, her body still tense and her fur rising defensively on her shoulders and neck in the process.

The actions the other wolf made as he drew his way about her caught the male off-guard. He had noticed at the swamp that she had been rather frightened, however the way she acted now, this was not expected. Carefully he drew himself a little bit further away from her as he let his head turn so his eyes were averted. "I apologize for startling you Trilogy, it was not my intentions." The warriors voice was low, trying to keep from sounding threatening in his tone. Carefully he lifted his head a little, turning just a litle to gaze at the extremely submissive female. He had not seen a wolf so quick to tuck tail, except for those young wolves his pack had captured many moons ago before the attack. Though that submissiveness is what lulled the pack into a sense of security that they would never be allowed to forget as that was the last thought on their mind before their lives were stolen from them.

However, Zetos found himself feeling sympathy for the wolf that was to his left. The look of her still reminded the male of his lost love, and the thought of that hurt him, the thought that his mate may have looked like that just before the snow came in and took her life away. His eyes closed as he continued away from the female, letting his breath go in a slow but steady pace. "I will be going, I do not wish to upset you any more than I already have. I apologize for that." With that said he made as to walk away, the paws drawing him into a turn so he could walk the opposite way of her. His ears curiously pivoted backwards as he moved, tail flicking very gently from side to side at the tip. I wonder how she became so hurt.... I hope she'll be alright. That was the only thought he allowed through his mind as he made his way away.

It didn't take him long to apologize for scaring her, but the female retained her submissive posture, that is, until he turned to walk away. She shouldn't be so frightened of him, after all, he'd saved her life. But at the same time, she was still terrified. She knew nothing about him, hell, for all she knew he was trying to gain her trust just so he could turn on her. She didn't know either way, and she wasn't about to take that risk. Slowly, as he turned to walk away, moving further from her small form, she carefully sat up, tilting her head curiously as she watched his retreating form. Her ears were perked now, not noticing the subtle glance back he made as he walked away while her honey-colored eyes studied his dark form.

He was smaller than her brother, and leaner, but still tall and larger than herself. He had power in his muscles, she could easily tell that, but what she didn't know, was if he'd use that or not. There was no mistaking that he could hold his own in a fight if the need arose, but was he a violent and cruel male like the ones she'd known in her past? Her brother had allowed him into the pack, so he must have at least some trustworthy traits, right? Not to mention she was safe in a pack that cared for her, and this meant she would be taken care of, right? Plus, Xerxses was incredibly protective of her as well.

It wasn't long before his form was far enough away for her to let her body relax completely, slowly sinking back down into a laying position as she examined the grass between her paws. This did not interest her for long, and after a short while she pushed herself to her feet once more, looking up at the apple tree above her. The blossoms were beautiful, petals falling on her face as a cool breeze blew through the branches, and she closed her eyes, her ear catching a petal or two as the rest rolled off of her face and onto the grass at her feet. The springtime was beautiful, and she let her eyes close, her hind legs scrunching slightly into a sitting position as she let her nose lift and inhale the sweet scents of the blossoms that still littered her form with their petals with the refreshing breeze.

Just as she let herself relax completely and get lost in the beautiful surroundings, the annoying chatter of an enraged squirrel pounded into her ears from a nearby tree. With an angry growl, she turned towards the little rodent, baring her teeth and flicking her tail in annoyance. "Oh shut up you stupid rat." She growled, not realizing she'd said it until the words came out. The harshness of the sound actually made her laugh, but as another squirrel, on the same tree, decided to get in a sort-of volume battle with the first, she lost the little patience that she had. With a violent snarl she glared at the tiny creatures, swearing up and down that if they didn't stop she'd climb up the tree and eat them. To any passerby it must have sounded like she was snarling at a much larger and much more ferocious creature that was attacking her or something, but in reality, the screeching sound of the battling squirrels was just driving her insane.

Hearing the squeaks behind him his ears perked up in amusement, he hadn't expected to hear that much sound coming from behind him so shortly after he had moved away. However the sound of growling and snarling made his attention rise further to the situation that was unfolding behind him. The large one let out a soft chuckle to himself, his tail was now flipping about behind him as he slowed his pace till he had finally stopped. She was threatening a pair of squirrels that had gotten into an argument or something, however the fact that she was not having it made the male laugh to himself. Turning around slowly to watch the scene unfold before him.

There she was at the base of the tree, looking up at the squirrels and pacing as if it would get the rodents to quiet down. However it seemed to encourage the little furballs and their voices got louder in turn with hers. Of course she was louder than the two of the combined but the effect was one that brought Zetos to a bursting laughter. "I realize that the incolent creatures have disturbed your peace, however, you seem to be bringing their own colorful language upon yourself." He was teasing her, he wanted to tease her, and he was enjoying every moment of it. The childish side of the wolf was showing, a side that had long been hidden since the tragedy that had befallen him, however, now, he was feeling more alive than ever.

"Shall I scare them into submission for you?" The jest was full-hearted fun and he crouched low letting his ears fall back as his tail stood up behind him swinging back and forth behind him. He was excited, forgetting himself for a moment, it was as if there had been something inside of the creature that snapped for the moment and allowed his normally rigid character to relax and become almost pup-like in nature. His whole body wiggled with the tail flailing, and his eyes were bright as his chest pressed to the grassy floor. "Maybe they'll even gather some food for you to eat!"

She hadn't been growling at the squirrels for long before the dark male reappeared, laughing at her and at the sight of her snarling at the tiny rodents. His words were only interpreted as mockery by the small gray and white female, and the annoyed growl was not directed at the male wolf. But, his first words were not the end of his voice, but instead, he continued, making her ears pin back and her tail lash out behind her in further annoyance. Many colorful words flashed through her mind as she glared at him, but she held her tongue, knowing that the wolf in front of her was still a male, and still more powerful than she was.

Yet, his display of pup-like behavior made it much easier not to fear him. In fact, her growl grew more confident and her stance less submissive and fearful. "I didn't ask for your help." She growled, obviously annoyed and still assuming his behavior was mocking her, not the lighthearted play that it most likely was. There was only room in her mind for patience and trust for two males in this pack, and one she was still getting used to. Ramses, the alpha male, and Xerxses, her brother. This new member had none of her trust, or patience. However, if it hadn't been for his childish behavior, she would be either cowering or fleeing right now instead of snarling and snapping at him. Her boldness actually surprised her, but she held her ground for the time being, glaring at him and pinning her ears back in annoyance.

The white female had changed her mind on the way she would approach him now. He did not find her overly intimidating, however he would indulge her in her anger and let himself slink down ever so slightly. Quickly his tail fell behind him, laying himself down in a submissive posture as he looked up at her from his new position. The smoky eyes watched her carefully as his ears remained pinned back from the sound of her growling and the words that she used. If looks could kill he would have been dead on the ground already and he knew it, this very thought was enough to make the male silence himself, closing his jaws tight together as he was reprimanded for his actions and words.

It only took a moment for Zetos to judge the situation he had put himself in and as soon as he could he got himself a word in edgewise. "I apologize Miss Trilogy, I will not do so again. I thought it was amusing that you were fighting against squirrels but I will not make the mistake to do that again." As soon as the words had finished slipping from his lips he let himself grow quiet once more. The long tail tucked under his belly, showing no intent on harming or attacking the female that was before him. Obviously he had ticked something that bugged her and though he thought it all a bit of fun it was easy to see that it had not been taken the same by the female. "I am sorry, please forgive me for my foolishness."

She'd been expecting him to lash back at her, and it was clear from her tense posture and the anxious shifting of her front paws back and forth in the grass in front of her that she was ready for some sort of reprimand or attack for her behavior. But none came, and instead her harsh words were greeted with submission and an apology from the dark male. Obviously this took her by surprise, because she sat down, her head tilted to the side in confusion, and her ears perked. There was no longer anger in her expression, but instead her face took on a curious and confused look. She hadn't expected such behavior from a male, especially one she challenged so blatantly.

For a while she sat there, speechless as he apologized, her jaw parted slightly as if in disbelief and her ears perked as she listened curiously. The usual tilt of her head when she listened was exaggerated now, her honey-colored eyes wider than usual as she stared at him. He paused in his words, almost as if she were to speak, but moments later he saved her from having to do so as he spoke again, asking for her forgiveness. This, of course, confused her even more, leaving her opening her mouth to speak, but closing it again as she realized she had no idea what to say. She stared at him for a moment, her brain fighting with what she was used to and what had just happened. Finally, though, she managed to get words out, though, they weren't really the confident and collected ones she wished they were. No, instead they were a lost and confused collection of, "I...uhm...it's fine..." as she continued to sit there, probably looking quite foolish in her flustered state.

He took a moment to peer at her seeing that she was confused by his actions. Why though? His own head tilted slightly as he looked up at her from the submissive position waiting a moment to find out what she would say. She seemed to be stumped for a moment when he had finished saying his piece. Had she never heard someone else apologize to her before or something? Maybe his rough look had made her think that he wasn't going to be one to take her words so kindly. His ears slowly perked forwards as his own curiosities were aroused by this female who now sat before him. She had sat herself so much like his last mate, why did she have to remind him of her? Maybe fate played a cruel hand in the way it worked? Or maybe his mind just longed for what he could no longer have near. Whichever it was, he could not, would not, allow himself to continue thinking as he was.

Instead he now sat himself up, looking at her paws as to not make eye contact out of respect to her. However he did speak, his voice had become soft as he handled the situation delicately. "I am sorry." Those were the very simple, few, words that left his mouth but they held the weightiness of his conscience. Yes, he had meant to tease the female but he had hoped she would find it funny or something to laugh at, had he known it would offend her so he would've held his tongue. Without another word the larger wolf stood from his spot, slowly turning away from the female. "I will leave you be Ms. Trilogy, may you find peace in that." He smiled a little to himself, something in the males mind told him it would be better for her to not have him around or to close; the thought that being close to his lost love is what brought her demise as well as to his pups, he was convinced he was bad luck.

It didn't take long for him to apologize again, and she remained sitting quietly, just as confused as before as he stood and dismissed himself again. For the second time that day she watched his retreating form, the black wolf moving further from her with his back turned yet again. She sat there quietly in her confused state for several minutes, not really sure what to make of the strange male wolf. He had been genuinely kind to her, which threw her off, and on top of that, when she'd challenged him, he'd backed down. She had never known a male to do that, not even her brothers had. Her head remained tilted curiously as she thought over what had happened, and eventually she sighed, shaking her head and settling on the idea that he was just trying to throw her off so that she wasn't expecting it when he turned on her.

She'd keep her eye on him, that was for sure. But for now, she should be heading back to camp. It was getting dark, and though she hadn't thought she'd been out there too long, the light was fading to be replaced with shadows. Slowly her nose lifted, her eyes greeted with the sight of clouds moving to hide the sun from view. It was getting later, yes, but that was not the reason for the darkness. No, a storm was moving in, and from the looks of those clouds, it was going to be a bad one. She wasn't too far from the camp, but she was pretty deep into the Apple Tree Woods, so it would take a while to get back to the security of her den. But, there wasn't much protection here, so she turned towards the camp, her ears pinning back and her head lowering slightly as the rain began to fall and land on her face.

She was nearing the path out of the woods when a loud rumble echoed around her, and the sound made her shiver slightly, but as the cool rain fell harder, she only blinked and narrowed her eyes to see as she pressed forward, on her way home. She continued this way for a while, and then a loud crack above her, as if something large were being snapped in half, made her flinch and stop in surprise. This turned out to be a mistake, because the crack above her had not been thunder like she'd thought, it had been a large tree branch snapping, and it now fell, landing on top of her and pinning her to the ground as she yelped loudly in pain. The branch was surprisingly heavy, larger than the tiny female wolf, and she whined and squirmed beneath it. Meanwhile, her front left paw was pinned beneath a part of the branch and the rest was over her middle, keeping her pinned to the ground as the rain continued to fall, soaking through her fur and making her shiver and curl up as much as she could. There was no escaping the trap she found herself in, so she curled up as close to the branch as possible, hoping that the part that covered her middle would at least provide some protection from the cold rain as she laid there, stuck, as the storm raged on around her.

As the male moved away from where he had been just a few moments before his eyes took a moment to peer up at the darkening sky. It was strange, how quickly things could change, obviously the same realization had come to the female earlier, or at least he assumed he had taken her off guard from her reaction. Zetos found himself grimacing for a moment as his tail fell behind him, the winds were beginning to pick up, the rain started in small droplets and he found himself frozen in place beneath the canopy of clouds. A sensation ran through his body, it was different, it was cold and unkind, leaving the male with nothing more to do than stand and wait. He leaned back on his haunches, trying his best to figure out what he was waiting for, however, no revelation would come to the wolf. As he sat his tail began to curl about his paws resting on top of them as his gaze was kept cast onto the clouds above.

He had been there a short while when the first snap of thunder roared through the heavens, it caused him to flinch and growl at the skies. His mind slowly turned over the events of his past, those in control of the wind and the rain and the snow, they had stolen her and his children from him, and they would never let him forget it. A deep angry howl ripped from his throat as another loud crack was heard. He could barely hear the yelp that followed the crack over his howl, but he let himself get cut short by it. He had a decent idea as to who that was, and that was not a yelp of annoyance this time, in fact, it was one of pain. His eyes widened, how many bad situations could this girl get herself into? He had no idea but he was certain he'd find out. His body moved from it's sitting position, turning about in the direction that the yelp had come from, forcing his body low as he began a lope towards the source.

As he drew nearer a new sound greeted the males ears, the sound of whimpering. She was hurt, that was easily told, yet she wasn't moving either, that was not a good sign. He forced his way past a few different trees until she came into view, a thick branch had fallen on top of her, luckily for her the main weight of the tree had fallen a few feet away, however that did not keep the rest of the branch from pressing her down into the dirt turning mud and grass. Carefully he moved forward surveying the scene, there was no need to ask if she was hurt, and there was no doubt that she couldn't move just from the position of her left paw so awkwardly pulled away from her main body. "Careful there Ms. Trilogy, you move too much and that branch decides to roll and put more weight on you... and if you think it's hard to breathe right now, that'll change your mind." With his warning put out he slowly moved to the lighter side of the branch, biting it in his teeth, trying his best to pull away, however it was fairly heavy and threatening to turn and crush the small wolf held under it. "Keep very still..."

He had a plan, it wasn't going to be easy, nor was he looking forward to it, however it had the best chance without hurting her. Of course it could hurt him in the end; he was willing to take that risk though. Hunching down at his shoulders her forced his head beside her body into the gap that it had made for the tree, trying to shimmy his main body under the branch. This caused it to shift on top of her left paw, no doubt would it be painful for her, but a moment later it left the paw completely. He had managed to get his back underneath, causing a bit more of a gap between Trilogy and the fallen piece of wood that could have proved quite bad for her. "Move, please." The words were parted by a heavy breath as he pushed against the ground lifting the branch a little more, clearing it from her body. He knew she was in pain but he wasn't going to have the strength to keep it up much longer.

It seemed like forever before her cries of pain were heard and the black male showed up out of nowhere. The rain was falling much harder at this point, and she had to squint to see him, though it was clear that there was some sort of wolf's shape nearby. It was his voice that assured her that it was him. She'd heard that voice a lot lately, so when he spoke to her, she stopped whining and listened, doing her best to keep still as he tried to help. This was the second time he had helped her, which she was not used to, but she did what she was told, keeping still and watching him through the rain when he was within view.

Then he moved closer to her, making her tense slightly as he pried himself in the gap between her, the branch, and the ground in an attempt to lift it off of her. It was a heavy branch, and as he slowly lifted it and moved it, the movement and pressure shifting on her paw made her yelp in pain. There was definitely something broken in her paw, that she knew, but it didn't take long for him to lift the branch high enough for her to escape. When he spoke again, she dragged herself out from under the trap that had fallen onto her, and when she was clear, she let herself collapse in the grass. Her head turned to lick her paw, and that's when she felt the pain in her side. It hurt, making her wince, but not enough for a yelp or cry like when she'd moved her paw. There was nothing broken, but she'd have a fair bit of bruising and sensitivity in that area for the next several days.

She remained laying where she was, curled up slightly, her head shielding her injured paw from the rain as her tiny body shivered in the storm. Her fur had completely soaked through, and her ears were flattened to her head as she closed her eyes, finally giving up on trying to squint and fight to see through the pouring rain. Another crash of thunder echoed through the woods, making her flinch slightly as she laid there, but she'd lost a decent amount of blood from her paw and her sides and chest ached and the shivering that continued to run through her body were draining her of all her energy. So she laid there, curled up as much as she could, already forgetting that Zetos was so close, knowing that if he wanted to hurt her, or kill her, there would be nothing stopping him now.

From the yelps that left the small female as he removed the branch Zetos knew what had happened. He blamed himself slightly for being somewhat clumsy with the branch, but he did not let it weigh on his conscience for long. Within moments she was escaping the confinement that had pinned her to the ground just a matter of seconds before. However she was not strong in her attempt to escape, in fact she was much slower than he had expected her to be. He waited until her body was out from underneath and with a snarl he pulled himself back, the branch half rolled off his back, giving a strong smack to the back of his skull before landing on the ground just before his muzzle. The hit had dazed the male somewhat as he tried to stand before teetering to the left and then the right. In what could only be called a slightly drunken stupor, Zetos moved himself over near Tril sitting down for a moment to inspect her.

Her paw was bleeding, that much was for sure, the rest of her seemed to be alright. Thanfully there were no protrusions sticking out along her chest, yet the way that she carefully tended to her paw told the male well enough of her condition. Seeing that she had not moved told him that either she had grown to trust him to some extent, but the male would not allow the effects of deliriousness cloud his judgement. At the moment the small wolf was too busy trying to tend to herself, that is why she was not caring about him or the fact he was so close. There was a shiver that ran through the females form beside him and he couldn't help but notice it, and with the way her paw was he wasn't about to have her go back to the camp, and the fact he had just taken a big piece of wood to the back of his head made it so he wasn't going to carry her in the next little while.

Instead the male settled to lay himself down beside her, his larger body slowly curling about her own as he spoke softly. "Keep calm, I'm not going to hurt you, but you're cold, you're wet, and you need something warm to help. Last thing I need is for you to pass out and take a slumber that lasts way too many moons." His words remained calm yet commanding as he spoke, there was no rooms for if's and or but's in his statement to her. The male had decided that it was best for her health not to be moving and he was going to stick to keeping her safe while she rested for a little. As if a final way of letting her know that he would not let her argue he placed his head atop the back of her neck, letting it rest there to cover her head and muzzle with his own. "When the storm stops and if it's morning we will go back to camp, but I will not risk losing you." That was all he'd say, the memory of his lost love flashing through his mind, making the larger wolf wince in pain at the thought. "I will not let you be harmed." His words died off as he let his mind drift off, still awake, but not where he was mentally.

She didn't even flinch as the male moved closer to her, but her eyes did open and her head lifted slightly as she watched his movements carefully. Soon she could hear his voice, and her ears flattened to the sides slightly as she listened. He wasn't going to hurt her, that was clear, and as he laid down and curled up around her, she tensed slightly. She wanted to get up and move away, but soon his warmth began to surround her shivering body and she let herself relax, even venturing to lean into him slightly. She was scared, yes, but he was keeping her warm, and as his head rested atop her own, he was also keeping her dry. She let her head lower and rest on his paws, as her paw was injured to an extent unknown to both of them at this point.

It didn't take long for her to drift off to sleep, dreams avoiding her as she remained curled up against him through the storm. It raged on for quite a while, though the apple trees around them provided at least a little shelter for the two wolves that laid cuddled up in the grass below. It seemed like hours before the storm ended, though it was still far from morning. The worst of the storm had passed, and though there was no sunlight, the clouds were slowly disappearing. The wolves were now left in darkness, with moonlight shining dimly through the trees as the white and gray female continued to sleep. She was still soaked through, though not shivering as much as before, thanks to the male's warmth. But she had a long night ahead of her, and her paw was still bleeding, thanks to the rain that had been falling on it for quite some time. Her breathing was slow and shallow, and her body was completely relaxed as it leaned against his, but she remained sleeping, even when a chattering squirrel made itself known overhead.

She did something completely unexpected to the male, she actually relaxed against him. For a moment he laid there with her tucked against him, shocked, by what had taken place. However the feeling did not last long and gently he let his head rest as not to crush her as he felt her breathing beside him. His tail swung gently, trying to keep it down so that it didn't hit the girl and cause her to wake or become startled. Even as the downpour continued he was content where he was, feeling the smaller one cuddled close into his side, feeling that which he hadn't felt for so long. His heart nearly jumped in his chest at the thought of being able to comfort her, his ears were perked for a moment, just taking in the sounds of her light breathing, and even though she was shivering she seemed to have warmed up just a little from the closeness of their touch.

He could sense it at first, just from the shift in the winds, the storm was starting to pass and it would soon be gone. Even as the heavy, thick, raindrops finally began to slow and ween out he could still feel the change. Finally the moon broke through the cloud cover and it gave a gentle bath to the ground from between the foliage overhead. He peered around for a moment, taking in the different scents that arose from the moisture that had seeped in to what had once been dry. When he was certain they were safe he let himself relax, closing his own eyes as he nuzzled gently and with extreme care, between her ears. There was an affectionate side to the male that was showing, something he hadn't expected to feel again. Yet somehow she drew it out of him, and knowing she could was comforting to his almost always tormented soul. "I will never let you be hurt Trilogy, even if it means my life. There is something about you, beyond words or recognition, I will give whatever I have to protect you, I will not fail again." His words died off as sleep overtook the larger beast, leading him off into a warm dream, one where he did not sleep with nightmares, for the first time in many moons.

The small gray and white female did not hear his words as she slept, but as he nuzzled his head against her, she shifted slightly to get more comfortable. The night was long, but there were no more storms in it, so the pair slept peacefully through until the morning light shone through the trees and onto their faces. Trilogy remained sleeping, though as the sunlight hit her face, she shifted to bury her nose into his chest to keep away from the light. She'd never really been one for early mornings, and today was no exception. She remained sound asleep, her paw no longer bleeding as it laid out next to her, completely motionless. There were bloodstains on the fur, but they were slowly forming scabs as the female remained cuddled up against the dark male with her face buried into his fur.

Even as the random critters in the woods began to make themselves known - a squirrel chattering here, a bird chirping there, a mouse scurrying by through the grass - the small healer remained fast asleep. However, as she inhaled, the strong masculine scent of the male whose chest she'd buried her face into filled her nose. She knew the scent, but at the same time, it was foreign to her. It was a male wolf's, and that was what threw her off and woke her up quickly. Before she realized where she was or what had happened the night before, her body tensed and she shied away from the male that was curled up around her. All she knew right now was that this wolf was a male, and he was not her brother. She now found herself scrambling away from him, but in her fear she forgot about her injured paw, a shooting pain as she tried to put weight on it serving as a reminder as she yelped and collapsed only a foot away from Zetos's dark form.

The sleep he had had during the night was wonderful, his dreams were full of pleasure. That which can only be brought about by the feeling of anothers warmth, of safety, of peace. However, the moment would not last long, as he was quickly awakened by what could easily be taken as panic. His eyes opened wide as she let out a yelp and half wearily he lifted his head to look at her, the pain of the branch to it suddenly pulsing through his mind as he let out a soft groan before laying his head back down. "Ain't going to hurt you Tril, you got crushed under a branch and I saved you, again." A small sway came to his tail as he peered up at her. "If I didn't know better, I'd almost say the fates have a thing for causing mishaps to happen to you while I'm about." Once again he was playing, half-forgetting about the day before when he had gotten in trouble for the same thing.

"Give me a few moments to rest and I'll escort you back to the pack, and don't say no, your paw looks pretty bad. I'd be up and at it already, however that branch gave me a good whack on the back." He let out another chuckle as his head rested gently between his paws. The blades of grass before him tickled at his nose, causing the male to sneeze and move away from it. For a moment he peered up at her, finally deciding to stand, slowly he pressed himself upwards, his body ached, for only a moment though. Once he was at his paws he began to sway, he was light-headed, deciding it in both their best interests that he took it slow he moved himself closer to her, talking softly all the while. "So, here's how it's going to work, I'm going to lay down, you'll get on top, I'll carry you back. Don't worry about the diziness, I'll make it, but you need to keep off that paw for a little. Ok?" He knew that it was her choice in the end how this happened, but he was going to put forth his idea. Slowly he laid down beside her keeping his body set to stand once she got on top. "And before you start thinking too much, no, I'm not going to hurt you." That was the end of his conversation.

She tried to stand up once more, collapsing yet again with a painful yelp as the male lazily lifted his head to look at her and speak. As his voice finally registered in her mind as the male that had saved her not only once, but twice, she let herself calm down and go quiet, remaining still and laying in the heap she'd fallen into. Slowly her head lifted to blink at him, before carefully turning to lick at a torn forming scab on her paw that was bleeding. She said nothing in response to his words, biting back annoyance at his joking once more. He'd done that yesterday, and she hadn't been amused, but he had saved her life twice now, so she decided to keep her mouth shut this time.

Then he mentioned taking her back to camp, and then he even mentioned carrying her, right after he swayed unstably towards her. She frowned at him, pinning her ears back and leaning slightly away as he laid down next to her. "There's no way I'm letting you carry me like that. You can barely walk a straight line." She said, her voice annoyed, yet holding the slightest hints of worry and even a bit of an apology. It was her fault that he'd gotten hurt, if she'd been paying more attention, the branch wouldn't have landed on her. Not to mention that he didn't need to keep saving her like he did.

It was easy to see the exasperation on her features as he teased at her once more. He felt a little guilty for it, but did not allow it to stop him for the moment. He was trying to lighten the mood to some extent, obviously he was not very good at it. As he laid down she scooted herself away, obviously not too fond of the idea of having to trust him with the task of walking her back to the dens. He remained where he was, smiling and letting his tail sway from side to side as he spoke softly once more. "Just because you see one way, does not mean that things are that way. I promise you, you will be fine." Once more he stood, this time he did not hesitate, sure the back of his head was paining to him, however he began to walk once more, letting himself move into a small trot as he circled about before her, finally coming to a stop, a few feet away from her as he looked down into her eyes.

"You'll be fine Trilogy, I promise. If I drop you you can take a piece of my hide out alright?" He laughed as he scooted closer and to her side, moving himself into a laying position once more, his head near her tail as he closed his eyes tight. "Please do not make me have to watch you having to be tender to that lovely paw. It will remind me of my failure last night, please let me help." Yes, it was a partial plea, he meant it, he also meant for it to poke at her emotions a little. He didn't want to force her to get on, he wouldn't, but he would push, in his mind it was better for her to ride on top instead of just trying to do it by herself. "Please..."

The female watched him trot confidently in front of her and as he moved back to her side, her eyes followed his face every step of the way. Her ears remained pinned back, obviously not amused by the situation she now found herself in, but he had a point, she couldn't exactly walk all the way back to camp like this. At least it was a good thing that the Apple Tree Woods weren't too far from camp. When he finished speaking, she sighed heavily, closing her eyes for a moment - having a small mental battle with herself - before opening them and looking at him once more. "Fine, but you better not drop me." She said softly, though her tone was not as harsh as her words. It actually held a grateful and even apologetic tone to it. That was as close to a thank you he was probably going to get from the small female, and she stopped talking now, carefully climbing onto his back as he laid there waiting, doing her best to stabilize herself as she got into place.

From there she remained silent, her ears still pinned against her head, not at all pleased with the predicament, but she was doing as he had told her, so at this point, it was up to him. She knew his plan, he'd carry her back to camp on his back, but from what she'd seen before, she wasn't without her doubts as to his ability to walk and carry her at the same time. Then again, she was fairly small, so she shouldn't be too heavy, but she didn't know what he was capable of. He'd lifted the branch, so he should be able to carry her. Right now, though, she'd just have to hold on and wait to see what would happen once he tried to start walking.

So she was going to agree to it as long as he didn't drop her? The clause sounded fair to the male and he gave a quick nod of his head as he turned his head to watch her slowly climb aboard. She treated the paw delicately, the action causing his heart to tug a little before he felt her weight lay down on top of him. She was light, lighter than he had first expected. Than again, he normally didn't have wolves laying on his back so he wasn't exactly certain what to expect. Carefully he tested his footing, lifting both of them off of the ground till only his paws were touching and she was hung over his back. His head flicked back for a moment as he peered at her, making sure that she was not being hurt by the way he was carrying her. There was a quick shift of his shoulders as he caught himself, trying to make himself comfortable as well as the one who was going to be getting the ride.

"So, how long have you been here?" The question was asked rather nonchalantly as he made his way towards the dens. It wasn't too far away and he wasn't going to race himself and risk crashing before he got there, so they had some time to kill. "As you well know I just showed up, and I do hope such things like this do not happen to you often. Or I may need to keep a constant eye on you." Though there was a slight joke in his voice he was being honest. Somewhere inside the black wolves heart there was a connection to the rider. However he would not dig too deep into his thoughts at the moment, for now he would resign himself to being her silent protector. In his mind Zetos had decided that he was going to keep her safe no matter the cost no matter what happened, whether she liked it or not.

The small female held on as best she could as the male stood and began to move, and when he looked back at her, her ears pinned back and her head lifted slightly before he turned back straight and began to walk. She kept her mouth shut for the most part, and then the male that was carrying her just had to open his mouth and ask a question. As if she wasn't embarrassed enough about the almost constant need for him to save her, he had to mention it again, and make her respond. She sighed heavily, almost glaring at the back of his head as he spoke, and even waited a few minutes before speaking after he finished.

"I found my brother and this pack only a short while before you. And no, these things don't always happen to me." She said, her voice a bit annoyed and it was almost as if you could hear that she was rolling her eyes as she said the words. When she finished speaking, she waited another moment before adding a few more words in a soft mutter under her breath, "...just when you're around," in the same annoyed tone as before. But then she sighed softly, still grateful that he'd helped her, and still far too stubborn to actually say so. Therefore, after she finished talking, she went quiet, resigning herself to silence for the remainder of the trip back to camp.

So she herself was new to this pack, that was an interesting turn of events. His mind wandered for a moment as to what would bring her brother here before her, but would leave her on the wayside until just a short while ago. The thought caused his head to tilt to the side, in turn causing his body to move to the same side as the tilt. It took him only a few moments to notice the tree he was heading towards and he veered himself sharply to the right to get around it as he tuned back in to hear her mutter the last sentence, whether she wanted him to hear it or not he was uncertain. However, a small smile came to the large, dark ones lips as his ears fell back at the words, tail flipping happily from side to side behind him as he began to speak softly to her. "I am just glad that you do not have the misfortune of me not being around... These things tend to happen to those I meet... I rather not not be there." His words drifted off as he completed the sentence, muttering softly to himself.

The dens were close now, he could smell the scent of their pack drawing near and it was only a small distance from them. It was at this moment he realized they were no longer in the apple tree woods, well that was a relief, at least no trees were going to collapse and pin them both down, of course that would require wind, of which there was none at the moment, at all. He realized instead that it was rather silent, and in turn his mind began to remind him of his past as it liked to do in times of quiet. In turn he began to hum a soft tune that his lost one had sung for her pups as she let them to sleep. It was comforting for him to hear the sound of it, even if it was his own voice, somehow it felt peaceful to hear it, and for the moment he forgot who was on his back, even as they entered the area of the dens, still letting the tune reverberate through his vocal chords and out of his clenched jaws.

She had no doubt he was wondering about her and her brother, after all, he was one of the first pack members to see them together and interacting. Not to mention the first to witness her brother's protective side. At least of her. But her thoughts were interrupted as he veered for a tree and then quickly away, making her ears flatten and her body shift as she tried to hold on until he righted himself once more. A soft, barely audible growl rumbled in her throat, but she swallowed it, doing her best to be nice, for now. Soon he was speaking again, responding to her mumbled words from before. She wasn't sure if he'd heard them or not, but she was honestly glad that he had.

She said nothing in response to his voice at first, finally relaxing once more as he stopped talking altogether. That was relief to her, as she really had nothing to say and was rather embarrassed by the current situation and would rather not talk until she was no longer on his back and being carried back to camp. Even as the thought crossed her mind, the male wolf began to hum, making her ears pin back as she listed quietly, keeping herself from saying anything for the time being. He wasn't actually asking questions or making her speak, so she let herself listen silently to the tune, wondering where it had come from. But she reined in her curiosity as she looked forward, hoping to see the dens soon so that she would no longer need to be on his back and holding on so that she wouldn't fall. Her paw ached, and though it was no longer bleeding, there was a large scab that had matted itself into her fur, and she sighed softly at the thought of having to clean it up back at her den. The next few weeks would definitely be long and hard ones because of this. Not to mention the painful bruising in her side and ribs.
